自从陈凯歌的《霸王别姬》之后我才开始看中国电影......我对大多数中国电影都不抱首肯的态度，我始终觉得中国大多数的导演不会导戏，而绝大多数的演员更不会演戏......对不起我这样说还是比较含蓄的，我父亲批评起中国电影来比我厉害得多。
简而言之吧，中国的古典诗词很美，美在短短几句话，甚至几个字，就能描摹意境，然而又不点明，要读者自己细细品味，好比在深山里寻访美景；这才是典型的中国味道。
可是现在大多数的中国电影，还有电视剧，都要把一切讲得明明白白；我一直认为，艺术是不需要太多解释的，解释得太多变成了教条，就不是艺术了。
我和一些朋友认为张艺谋还是有才气的，可惜他出名太早，以至于未能升华。他的作品都是差那么一口气，达不到完美境界；现在他走商业化道路，更不用谈。

Anne,你的评论很有意思。我认为有很多西方人跟你同意，我也同意，虽然我看过的中国电影大部分是艺术电影；除了陈凯歌和张艺谋这样以外我什么都不知道。根据我的印象很多平常的中国电影是情节剧或者喜剧或者武术电影，中国的电影产业很久是这样。我认为原因很多:有的是经济的，有的是政治的，还有的是文化的。最重要的是现在开发中国的艺术电影文化，养育天才，鼓励年轻导演走艺术道路，不走商业化道路。娱乐电影也重要，但是不用什么特别的鼓励！
